I attended the GMM of PMAP (Personnel Management Association of the Philippines) at Hotel Intercontinental, Makati City early this afternoon. Guess what? They discussed in the plenary what we are bloggin' lately, Corporate Social Responsibility (read related post here or here).

It was fun listening to Francis Kong as he share his insights about CSR, from the perspective that ethics and respect should start from oneself. With these, he made one statement that is an instant hit, at least to me =)

" High tech.. high touch"

The main message is simple:

Though time, society and lifestyle change, ones value system and faith to God should remain constant.

I have been bloggin' for over a year, and my reason for such is to advocate spiritual intelligence or the recognition of time honored principles. I know a bunch of people who are religious but still too far to being principle-wise. A principlel-wise person integrates spiritual principles in his life– application is not limited to his religious beliefs but scope includes business, career, work, relationships, etc.

For purposes of mutual learning, I am sharing lessons learned in the form of blog, anecdotes and articles to "sharpen the saw", a term coined by Steven Covey, with young professionals and entrepreneurs. Life is too short to be wasted when lost in the corporate world. Work is intended for one to live.. but to some, work deprived them of life, even though they have more than what they need.

I believe we are here for a purpose– our life are pieces of puzzle that are needed by another life. The gifts and skills bestowed to us are intended not only to gain personal wealth, but to provide "solutions and answers" to the needs of individuals, organizations and community.

We are being connected to people or groups not by chance but for a purpose. Others may be needing our skills and talent, to address their need, and others can also provide the missing pieces of puzzle in our life or situation. This is CSR in a personal level with a touch of spiritual intelligence.

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. Proverbs 27:17

    Sonnie,
I am a member of HR Philippines and I have been receiving your posts. Kudos on your efforts in providing insightful anecdotes and HR related matters. You may consider this initiative as your “PSR” (Personal Social Responsibilty), if such a phrase exist to define individuals who go out of their way to share something from themselves. I also do some blogging (have several going with different topics) and I hope someday, I will be able to share something significant also to our fellow Filipinos. God Bless!

    Dear Sonnie,

I have been reading your intellectual articles right from your postings to my group HRCircle (CHRM) at Yahoo Groups !

And now we have the privelege of having your esteemed writings at chrmglobal.com with which the entire community out here is to benefit immensely. We were awaiting for someone to set the niche of initiating sumthing on ‘Organization Reforms’ and just when you striked the iron rod with your article on ‘CSR-Getting Started’. Fantabulous are the words that can only be described for your unique yet learned postings. We look forth to several learning inputs ahead from Sonnie’s Desk.

Take Care & God Bless You.

    Sonnie,

Ur blog on CSR was forwarded by a colleague to me. Though I like to use the term CSO – Corporate Social Opportrunity. I believe it is an opportunity to use our skills and knowledge for the larger good beyond our bread and butter.

Great site and great read. Would like to watch the CSO space and also get involved.

    cheerz ruby
