A Typical Dynamics In Organizations?
May 28, 2006

I requested to repost this pic from the owner of Greener Pasture, to write an anecdote…
But I guess he's right — the pic will speak for it self. But allow me to get your thoughts from the picture:
What's right with the pic?
In this pic, what is the image of HR?
Why do you think HR ended up with this image?

What’s wrong with the picture? Well, that “me” just allowed those people that maybe occupying higher positions to just watch him doing the work. Instead, he should have demanded that sitting or just watching him would not make things easier and faster.

Interesting to see that though the question asked is ” What is right with the picture ? ” everyone has begun to look for what may be apparently wrong with the picture .
Let me put in my two pence about what is right in the picture .
All the people in the picture are wearing uniform , denoting camaraderie .
Everyone is taking interest in what is happening in the ditch , possibly learning from it .
One person is communicating with someone on phone , possibly keeping him updated regarding the progress of work . Good frontline to base communication .

Ok, let’s take a homorous look at the pic and decode the question abt what’s right with the HR fella.
Some clues:
1. He’s sitting on something. What’s that? Looks like gas cylinder to me. Sitting on something explosive so that no one gets to it?
2. There’s a cross on the ground. Anything about that?
3. He’s “alone”. As in, away from the crowd, at the back of everyone, albeit within sight. Correct for HR personnel who should not meddle right in the middle of matters but take a bird’s eye view and after that do the necessary (like sack incompetent people)? He should not become buddies with anyone in the company so that he will not be biased.
half penny’s worth. Heh.

” you can’t do things sitting on your ass “.
That is the message.
